Frankfort mayor to seek re-election

Updated: September 23, 2012 10:28PM

Frankfort Mayor Jim Holland will announce his candidacy for a third term at his

Taste of Frankfort fundraiser Sept. 25 at CD & ME.

That also is the first day candidates in the April 9 election can circulate nominating petitions.

Holland said he is running again becuase he wants to continue a policy of ?restrained spending? that will lead to paying off all bonded debt in his next term.

The mayor also said he wants to continue to improve the village?s building standards, see the completion of U.S. 30 and begin improvements to other major arterial roads.

Although he is running as an independent candidate, Holland said if Village Clerk Bob Kennedy and Trustees Todd Morgan, Dick Trevarthan and Doug Walker decide to seek re-election, he will endorse them.

?The trustees and I understand that the people of our comunity make Frankfort the great village that it is,? he said in a news release announcing his candidacy. ?We are stewards of their tax money and we know that it is our responsibility to find the most economical ways to provide high quality planning, police protection, street maintenance and other services for the people.?
