On athlete, David Hauss comes fourth in Men's Triathlon ? Aspire ...

Triathlete David Hauss lives his Olympic dream with On

Yesterday?we saw an amazing performance from David Hauss in the London 2012 Men?s Triathlon. Exiting an incredibly fast swim, paced by Varga, Hauss was in 18th position with a split of 17:24. He then worked his way into the lead pack on the bike. During the bike he looked comfortable, pacing himself well towards the back of the pack and completing the bike in 58:50. His pacing enabled him to put in an incredibly strong run, taking pole position in the group chasing down the leaders. At times, it looked like he might end up with a medal, but crossed the finish line in 4th position. He completed the 10k in an incredible 29:53, with an overall race time of 1:47:14.

It was no surprise that this extraordinary triathlete did so well in his first Olympics. A promising newcomer, he was set for big things and was one of the favorites going into the race. He?s seen 8 podium appearances at races over the last 24 months, placing him among the leaders in the ITU World rankings. He?s certainly proved his triathlon prowess on the global stage during London 2012?and is one to watch.

In early 2012, David Hauss also opted for an extraordinary running shoe. Since running in the race shoe of the young Swiss sports company On, he has been able to raise his performance level even further.

David comments: ?On shoes have altered the way I run, because they enable me to utilize my running muscles to the full. That not only makes me more dynamic, it also means that I can consistently maintain a natural posture, even at the end of a race or training session?, as the professional athlete puts it. Hauss goes on to explain how On?s patented cushioning system allows him to run additional distances without excessive muscle exhaustion. On shoes? radically new design combines a soft foot landing with an explosive push-off, thus enabling the athlete to adopt a highly efficient running movement which is light, natural and fast.?

David was always destined for a career in sports. Even before he had learned to swim, he was on a surfboard. On the island of La R?union ? David?s home ? sport is an integral part of everyday life. He competed in his first triathlon at the age of 12, and was just 15 when he went to the South of France to attend a special sports school ? on his own, far from home and family. As a young, exceptionally talented athlete, he went through a phase when his enthusiasm for training could have been greater, a fact which did not come to light immediately. It was only when his results began to decline that the French Triathlon Federation forced him to make a decision: to devote himself fully to his discipline, or not at all. David explains, ?I asked myself what I really wanted to do. That moment marked the beginning of my ambition to take part in the Olympic Games. Since then, that objective has been paramount for me?. He is supported in his quest by his father, who acts as his coach and trainer. His decision has paid off. In a few days from now he will be living his Olympic dream and starting the race of his lifetime. And that is not all this summer has in store for the young athlete. After the Olympic Games, David and his fianc?e, Swiss professional triathlete, Melanie Annaheim, will marry.
