The statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that obesity has been growing at an alarming rate in the US, with 12 States having at least 30% of the population being obese. Moreover, with all the States having at least 20% of people obese, the value of physical exercise cannot be overstated.
There are several reasons why we should cut down every ounce of excess fat and stay lean. Most of these reasons are medical although we cannot ignore other aspects like physical appearance because they too can cause psychological problems. When you see a friend purchasing fitness DVDs, then know that they are trying to prevent many cardiovascular diseases, some type of diabetes, and even cancer. Obesity has also been associated with low self-esteem and lack of confidence.
The solutions to weight problems are often summed up in two: Watch what you eat and get into an exercise routine. Our focus here will be on the latter and more specifically why you should consider getting yourself a fitness DVD. There are several benefits in having a fitness DVD, whether you visit a gym on daily basis or just intend to work out from the house. Here are a few:
a) Variety: The primary goal is to stay lean and healthy and how you get there really does not matter. Fitness DVDs contain different types of exercise routines including aerobics, yoga, weight lifting, and even sporting instructions. This means that anyone will get something suitable for their interest thus increasing your chances of success.
b) Time flexibility: Many of us wish we could get into a training program but we are constrained by time. Perhaps you have a very tight work schedule and cannot get time to get to the gym. Most gyms also have scheduled aerobic sessions and if you cannot get into one of those, then too bad. A fitness DVD allows you to exercise at your most convenient time.
c) Program flexibility: Besides time flexibility,?fitness DVDs?also give you program flexibility. What this means is that you can choose which exercises to combine. You can for instance buy an aerobic DVD and a weights DVD and decide to do 20 minutes of aerobics and 30 minutes of weights.
d) Less expensive: Gyms are costly because of the regular subscriptions. While some people can easily afford this, not all of us can afford it all the time. Sometimes you find yourself stretched and as you cut down cost, the gym may have to go. A fitness DVD on the other hand is a one-time expenditure and can help keep you in the routine even without cash. Remember with exercises, there is no room for breaks as this may mean you lose all gains already made.
e) Opportunity for socializing: Another advantage of fitness DVDs is that you can actually workout with friends, a partner and even kids. This is good for interaction compared to a gym where your kids would have been at home.
