Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said on the Senate floor Tuesday that the White House intentionally ?designed? President Barack Obama?s $447 billion jobs bill to ?fail? with the hopes of making Republicans appear ?intransigent.?
This was not ? I repeat ? not a serious effort to do something about jobs and the economy,? McConnell said. ?It was a serious effort to help the president?s re-election campaign by making Republicans in Congress look intransigent?
Watch:
Obama?s jobs bill was not put to a vote in the GOP-controlled House but was defeated in the Democrat-controlled Senate. A part of the jobs bill that included $35 billion in federal funding for states to hire public safety workers and teachers also failed in the Senate.
