Fashion blogger and stylist Amanda Del Duca has been making Miami look good in more than just wardrobe choices.
Her blog CaptureFashion.com has some of the most captivating images of Miami, from shoots at fruit-filled bodegas, to deserted Everglades roads, to the bleached out alleys of South Beach.
Del Duca, often wearing Miami designers like Alexis, serves as both model and editorial director for these awesome shoots, captured by photographer David Lundblad.
With such an acute eye for perfectly nuanced Miami scenes, Del Duca spoke with The Huffington Post about life in the 305, the city's tight-and-bright style, and certain local foot faux-pas.
Who are you:
Amanda Del Duca
Years in Miami:
3 and a half years
First memory of Miami?
My first memories of Miami are from driving here from Naples to go ?school shopping at Aventura mall with my mom and sister. The shopping in Naples at the time was all directed toward older clientele, so my sister and I would be so excited to come here and go to Abercrombie and Fitch, Bebe or Limited Too.
Current neighborhood:
Flamingo Park on Miami Beach
Current gig:
Miami?-based fashion stylist and blogger behind CaptureFashion.com.
Favorite 'Only in Miami' moment?
Watching cruise ships leave the harbour from South Pointe.
What's your idea of a perfect day in Miami?
Start off with a morning walk on the beach then stop for a cafe con leche from at Las Olas on my way back home. Post photos on my blog. Head to Soho Beach House for lunch at Cecconis followed by an afternoon of answering emails poolside. Head back home and change outfits for street style photos with my boyfriend and photographer, David Lundblad. Eat a quiet dinner at home and end my perfect day with a glass of wine at The Broken Shaker.
395 or 195?
195 always
Where do you take out-?of?-towners visiting Miami?
Sushi Samba, Yardbird, The Webster, Soho Beach House, The Broken Shaker.
What's a typical day in the life of a freelance wardrobe stylist?
Depends on the day! Normally I split my time between blogging and styling. On days that I am styling I am either on set dressing models for a fashion editorial, or I am preparing for the photo shoot. My preparations include creating mood boards, coordinating sample loans, model fittings and, of course, then there is the packing and unpacking of clothes...It really is different every day depending on what project I?m working on.
What local boutique is your best kept secret?
I love Haus Fashion in Wynwood.
Which local designers intrigue you?
ALEXIS, La Belle Rebelle, Lori Lester
Fashion trend spotted around Miami that you'd wish would go away?
Flip flops. Not sandals, obviously, just the Havaiana-?style ones. It?s just too close to being barefoot for me.
How is Miami's street style different from other cities?
Because of the mostly warm weather the style here kind of never changes. Printed and flow-y or tight and bright.
Last big project you did:
Dressing model Ashley Sky for her hosting duties at NYFW for Galore Magazine.
Upcoming projects you're working on:
Right now I am thinking about WMC. Nothing I can share right now, but some exciting things for sure. Lots of swimwear! My mind is all about resort wear for the weeks ahead.
Why do you hate Miami?
I hate Miami traffic.
Why do you love Miami?
I love Miami weather.
What are three local meals you can't live without?
Berry oatmeal at Juice and Java, lunch at Gigi's and dinner at Fifis.
In a word or two or three, Miami is...
very special to me!
