What the 'Bqhatevwr' Did Scott Brown Tweet?

What do politicians do after losing their re-election bids? Take to Twitter, of course. Former Sen. Scott Brown of Massachusetts has been doing just that.

Brown has been tweeting about his everyday life post-politics, posting blurbs about house chores, football, and his family, but Brown's tweets are somewhat less refined than those tweeted by his skilled staffers when he was serving in Congress.

On his verified Twitter account on Friday morning, the former senator tweeted about seeing his daughter, Ayla perform at Pejamajo Caf? in Holliston.

"Yes. Get ready." The tweet read, but without the finesse of Brown's tweeting staff, one of his followers misunderstood the message.

"Oh we are. You have no idea how ready #MaPoli is to vote to keep you in the private sector & out of #MASen" @MattinSomerville tweeted back.

Brown responded with a series of three tweets delivered after midnight.

"Your brilliant Matt," he first tweeted.

"Whatever," followed.

And finally Brown tweeted, "Bqhatevwr."

Though he deleted his tweets, "Bqhatevwr" trended on Twitter nearly as quickly as #eastwooding.

The trending typo drew both bipartisan support and mockery. Some taunted the former senator for his late night slip-up, creating Internet memes and "Bqhatevwr" quips, while others defended Brown, saying that he is just an average Joe who committed a typical Twitter faux pas.

But what most Twitter enthusiast failed to recognize what that Brown's first "Your brilliant" tweet was grammatically incorrect, too.

Crime boss suspects arrested at Russian birthday dinner

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Police raided a restaurant near Moscow and arrested four alleged crime bosses and 19 others as they met to plan strategy after the killing of a criminal godfather known as Grandpa Hassan, the interior ministry said on Saturday.

The police swooped on the Family Elite-Club restaurant in the town of Nikolina Gora after learning that suspects from Russia and Belarus would meet there to discuss "a series of questions of a criminal character," a ministry statement said.

"During the secret meeting, held under the cover of a celebration of the birthday of a senior so-called 'criminal authority,' the plan was to discuss next steps after the recent assassination of the head of the Aslan Usoyan 'clan'," it said.

Usoyan was the real name of Grandpa Hassan, 75, considered one of the most influential kingpins of organized crime in the former Soviet Union. He was shot dead on a Moscow street on January 16 in what authorities said was a contract killing.

Giving only nicknames, the ministry said those arrested included two senior crime figures from Russia - Timokha and Kostyl, which can mean crutch, nail or spike - and two Belarussians known as Medvezhonok (Bear Cub) and Pashtet (P?t?).

It said participants had planned to "coordinate the work of organized groups subordinate to the criminal 'clan' of Tariel Oniani", whom Russian media have identified as a rival of Usoyan. Both were born in Georgia.

During the chaos which accompanied the 1991 fall of the Soviet Union, killings across Russia were commonplace as criminal gangs battled to gain control of lucrative businesses and carve up territory.

According to Russian media reports, Usoyan established a network involved in illegal gambling, drugs and weapons sales, and natural resources extraction, with stakes in former Soviet republics and beyond.

President Vladimir Putin has claimed credit for bringing order since he rose to power in 2000, but Kremlin critics say corruption has worsened and accuse government authorities of ties to organized crime.

Russian news agency Interfax identified the four main suspects arrested in the restaurant as Alexander Bor, Konstantin Borisov, Alexander Medvedev and Pavel Alexiyevich. It said the birthday they were celebrating was Bor's.

My real estate agent asked for my loan officers ... - Zillow Real Estate ...

As a Broker and sales manager of 60+ agents, I have seen many examples regarding your concerns.

As a buyer, its important that you choose a real estate agent that will represent you to the end. ?Not just an agent to write an offer then go away...waiting for their commission check to arrive in the mail.

Here is what I know and I hope it helps.

When I represent a client as a buyer, I require that they get a pre-approval from their lender prior to us submitting an offer because in a competitive market, the selling agent will require this. ?This letter will also have the lenders information on it for both agent to identify. ?

Keep in mind the lender will need the agents information as well, as we are all on the same team...to get you into your home as quickly and with the least amount of delays.

believe it or not, many lenders that represent our buyers are not the best a sticking to a schedule and its your agents job to help you by communicating for updates to help keep everyone on time. ?If the sale was due to close and the two never communicated...who's fault would it be if it did not close on time? ?The buyer simply wants the home. ?

I have cases where the appraisal should have been ordered weeks ago and the lender forgot this simple task. ?The lender is responsible for ordering the appraisal, the appraiser (most of the time) will contact the buyer or selling agent for access to the property...Some lenders may not be 100% honest with all the facts and at the 12th hour the agent finds out that the buyer is still waiting for a credit issue to be cleared...if the agent knew in advance there could have been a time extension filed, saving the buyer much grief. ?Deals have been lost because of poor communication between lender and agent because of this.

My opinion is let your agent do his job and cooperate with him...it's only to help you close your sale on your new home.

Your lender is not allowed to give them any financial information about you without your permission, so basic communication is harmless.

Best of luck.

Obama: Gun-control advocates have to listen more

WASHINGTON (AP) ? President Barack Obama says gun-control advocates should be better listeners in the debate over firearms in America.

In an interview with The New Republic, Obama says he has "a profound respect" for the tradition of hunting that dates back for generations.

"And I think those who dismiss that out of hand make a big mistake. Part of being able to move this forward is understanding the reality of guns in urban areas are very different from the realities of guns in rural areas," he says.

Obama has called for a ban on military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines and is pushing other policies following the mass shooting last month at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn. In response, gun-rights advocates have accused Obama and others of ignoring the Second Amendment rights of Americans.

The president says it's understandable that people are protective of their family traditions when it comes to hunting.

"So it's trying to bridge those gaps that I think is going to be part of the biggest task over the next several months. And that means that advocates of gun control have to do a little more listening than they do sometimes," he says.

Has Obama himself ever fired a gun?

"Yes," the president says, "in fact, up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time."

His daughters don't shoot skeet at the presidential retreat in Maryland, he adds, "but oftentimes guests of mine go up there."

The interview appears in the Feb. 11 issue of The New Republic.

Child asthma reduced by smoking bans

British study finds a significant drop in hospital admissions for childhood asthma attacks after a law is enacted banning smoking in enclosed spaces.

Mon, Jan 21 2013 at 2:09 PM

A new study in the United Kingdom has some good news for children who suffer from asthma. According to researchers at the Imperial College London, childhood asthma attacks have dropped significantly since a law was enacted in 2007 banning smoking in enclosed spaces.

?

The new study, which was published in a recent issue of Pediatrics, found that the hospital admissions for children suffering from asthma attacks dropped more than 12 percent in the first year after the law was introduced in July 2007. ?The admission rates continued to decline in subsequent years suggesting that the health benefits from the law have had a sustained effect on England's kids.

?

Before the ban was implemented, hospital admissions for childhood asthma attacks were rising at a rate of 2.2 percent per year, with admissions hitting a peak of 26,969 admissions in 2006-07. ?Researchers estimate that the rapid decline in admissions, which began immediately after the law came into effect, is equivalent to 6,800 fewer hospital admission within the first three years after the law came into effect. ?

?

The decline in hospital admissions was seen across the board in both boys and girls and for children living in poor neighborhoods or wealthier communities.?
