For Mother Monster's big day, here's an A-to-Z guide for all things Gaga.
By Vaughn Trudeau Schoonmaker

Lady Gaga turned 26 years young on Wednesday (March 28), and to help celebrate, MTV News drew up a handy A-to-Z guide touching on some of the most exciting things to come from Mother Monster. Read on and share your birthday wishes for the pop princess!

A: April 27. On that day, Gaga will launch what's sure to be one of the year's most spectacular spectacles at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul, Korea, which brings us to ...

B: ... Born This Way Ball! We were there when Gaga announced the name of the tour in Atlantic City, New Jersey, last year, and it has been hinted that we can expect an "electro pop opera." She had us at "opera."

C: Castle. Mother Monster tweeted an image of the stage design for the tour, and the elaborate gothic castle has us excited.

D: "Dark." Gaga's former creative director, Laurieann Gibson, opened up just last week about why she parted ways with the pop star, telling "ET Canada" that Gaga's ideas "got a little dark for me creatively."

E: Elton John. The godmother to John's adopted son, Gaga has teased a duet with the "Rocket Man" singer for her next album.

F: Fernando Garibay. The musical director behind Born This Way told MTV News that the new album already has a title and concept.

G: Gothic. Veils, brooches and lots of black: Gaga has adopted a gothic theme for her tour, but also in her fashion choices.

H: "Heavy Metal Lover." This jam has been begging for radio play; at the very least, the BTW cut should make it to the tour set list.

I: Inez & Vinoodh. The Dutch photography duo were heavily involved in the spectacle surrounding Gaga's "Yoü and I" video, crafting awesome fashion clips after the official music video.

J: Joanne. Lady Gaga's parents recently opened this Italian trattoria, named for Gaga's late aunt, on New York City's Upper West Side.

K: Kinney, as in Taylor Kinney. The beautiful man who played Gaga's love interest in the "Yoü and I" video is rumored to be her real-life love interest too.

L: Luc Carl. Gaga must still be on good terms with her ex-BF, because she recently tweeted a shout-out to him when he published his new book, "The Drunk Diet."

M: Monster Pit. The special enclosed space within the Born This Way Ball stage where lucky Monsters who line up for hours, even days, before the show will be able to take in the concerts.

N: Nicola Formichetti. The singer's new creative director will be her co-HBIC for the foreseeable future.

O: Oprah. The talk-show queen is Gaga's new BFF, pretty much. She even tapped the OWN network boss to interview her not long after they launched Gaga's anti-bullying-focused Born This Way Foundation together.

P: Piano. One of the best parts of the Monster Ball was when Gaga would slow things down, chatting with the crowd and showing off her raw talent at the piano.

Q: Quinceañera. Gaga's one-word Twitter response to a Little Monster who asked how she would celebrate her 26th birthday this year, never mind that it's the kind of party reserved for 15-year-olds. They grow up so fast.

R: Red Wine. Widely known to be Mother Monster's alcoholic beverage of choice, alongside whiskey and beer.

S: "Stuck on F---in' You." This unreleased and unedited track was leaked by Gaga herself as a Christmas gift to her Little Monsters. She recorded the naughty song on her tour bus last go-round. Can we get another?

T: Tea. Gaga's non-alcoholic beverage of choice, about which she recently tweeted a lesson she learned: #KettlesAreForTeaNotFashion.

U: Unicorns. The mythical creatures may not exist, but Gaga swoons for them, and why not? Fantasy is as important to her as reality.

V: Video Music Awards. Is it too early to begin the campaign for her to blow our minds again at the 2012 VMAs? We'd even settle for Jo Calderone again.

W: Wigs. Her supply is never-ending and will likely continue to fascinate us right on through her 26th year.

X: "Lady Gaga X Terry Richardson." Amazing photo book. Seriously, check it out.

Y: Yuyi. Will the mermaid join Gaga on tour this year? As long as the tour bus is sea-creature-friendly.

Z: Z100 Jingle Ball. In December, Gaga performed a short-but-captivating set at New York City's Madison Square Garden that gave us a peek at what's to come on the Born This Way Ball.

Angie's List: Home Remodeling Tips ? CBS Philly

By Jim Donovan

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) ? This time of year many people are thinking of doing some remodeling. Updating things like your kitchen or bathroom can actually be a smart investment. But in this week?s Angie?s List, Jim Donovan shows you why you need to be smart when it comes to doing any upgrades.

Remodeling your kitchen or bathroom won?t just make your home look nicer, it can be a great investment too.

?But the key here is not overdoing it, but keeping up with the Jones?s. So if you?re the only house in the neighborhood without granite countertops then it makes sense to add them, if you?re not, skip out on that extra,? said Angie?s List founder, Angie Hicks.

The best way to make sure your home improvement job goes smoothly, make a clear plan.

?Plan ahead. Lay out your budget. Have ideas ahead of time and then communicate with your contractor regularly. That starts with the estimate, documenting in the contract, all the way through the entire project,? said Hicks.

Any major renovation can end up being very expensive so be smart when it comes to arranging payments.

?The one thing consumers should remember is that the payment schedule on a remodel job is a negotiable item. Be comfortable with how the payments are going to work. Typically what happens is payments are tied to certain hurdles. Make sure you hold back money at the end until you are completely, 100 percent satisfied before you make your final payment,? said Hicks.

More from Angie:

Projects with a high return on investment: If you?re going to invest in projects designed to improve your home?s value, it makes sense to know what remodeling projects will give you the most return for your money.

  • Kitchens and baths
    Decks
    Siding
    Windows

Projects with the lowest return on investment: Unless your home is the only one on the block without these items, these projects could actually detract from your home?s attractiveness.

  • Pool
    Home office
    Sun room
    Master suite
Adding a third bay to the garage

There are a number of routes you can go when remodeling your kitchen and bathroom ? from simple items such as replacing a fixture or floors ? to a complete remodel that includes expanding the size of the room. Where you live, material selections, and the scope of the work are all factors that determine costs and can make a difference in your budget.

Angie?s List tips: How to hire the right remodeling contractor:

Know what you want: Before you begin talking with contractors, read remodeling magazines, search the Internet for designs and materials and put your ideas on paper to give potential contractors a better sense of your expectations.

Get estimates: Get at least three written estimates to review. Make sure the estimates include the same things so you?re comparing apples to apples. Never hire on price alone.

Do your research: Check out contractors in your area using Angie?s List and talking to your neighbors. Ask for references from your potential contractors and call those customers. Try to get a customer who?s been in the remodeled home for several months so you can see how the work has held up.

Require proof of proper license, certification and insurance: if your contractor can?t show that, get another one no matter how nice he or she seems. If your home is older than 1978 your contractor must be certified in lead safe practices ? ask for that documentation as well.

Working with a General Contractor (GC): Get everything in writing from the GC, including the names of the subcontractors and suppliers. Ask your GC to provide lien waivers that show subcontractors and suppliers have been paid. Stay in touch with the subcontractors and make sure they?re being paid on time. If possible, make checks out to both the contractor and subcontractors or suppliers, requiring two signatures to cash.

Read the contract BEFORE you sign: Make sure the job details, warranty, payment terms and penalties for not completing work are spelled out in your contract. Documentation is often the best ammunition you have if things go wrong.

Paying for the project: Expect a minor kitchen remodel to cost about $20,000 and a minor bathroom remodel around $10,000. Never pay the full cost of a project up front. Your payment schedule should be clearly spelled out in your contract. Tie payment plans to the job?s progress. Most contractors will ask you to pay a portion of the project upfront ? which is OK ? but you can negotiate that down payment. Hold back the final payment until you?re satisfied with the work.

Communicate with your contractor: Every project is going to have something unexpected pop up. To get the most cost-effective work out of your tradespeople, outline the scope of your project and establish a budget in advance. Make sure you are communicating your wants and needs directly with the contractor overseeing the project.

Prepare for the stress/mess of a remodel: Regardless of size, all projects will include unexpected issues that may cost more or delay completion. Be prepared for stress as the project stretches on, work crews enter your home, materials may pile up, or you might have a few days without a working kitchen/bathroom.

Tax-Free Profits on All of Your Real Estate Deals? Yes You Can ...

Harness the power of real estate and alternative asset investing in on IRA to make tax-free or tax-deferred profits for the rest of your life!

After completing a successful real estate transaction, do you ever wish a chunk of the profits didn? t have to go back to the IRS for taxes? Do you ever dream about how many more real estate deals you could do or how many more properties you could buy if profits weren? T split with the government because of taxes?

Well dream no more. Realizing tax-free or tax-deferred profits on real estate and alternative asset investing is a reality. Government sponsored retirement plans and IRAs as seeking 401 (k) s allow you to invest in almost anything (including real estate), not just stocks, bonds and mutual funds. And all the benefits those plans provide, tax-deductions and tax-free profits, apply to whatever investment you choose, including real estate. The Power of Tax-Deferred and Tax-Free Profits? / b>

?The most powerful force on Earth is compounding interest.? ? Albert Einstein

One of an IRA?s greatest features is that It allows Americans to enjoy the true power of tax-deferred compounding interest. Compound interest is earned on interest OCCURS when a principal sum along with any accumulated interest on that sum. In other words, you are not earning interest only on your original investment sum, but also on the interest earned from the original sum.

Compound interest can occur with any investment you make, but the ?true? power compounding of interest is when you make an investment Obtained in a tax-deferred environment, like an IRA.

By taking advantage of an IRA?s tax-deferred status, you do not have to pay tax immediately on your earnings (like the sale of a property or rent collected). Thus, you are able to enjoy the power of compounding on ALL of your profit, not just what is left after taxes.

Now apply those benefits to your real estate or alternative asset investing. Tax-deferred profits on your real estate transactions Allows greater flexibility to make more investments, or to just sit back and watch your real estate investment grow in value, without worrying about taxes. Is This for Real?

Most investors do not know this opportunity exists because most IRA custodians Thurs not offer truly self-directed IRAs that allow Americans to invest in real estate and other non-traditional investments. ? / p> Often, when you ask a custodian / trustee, ?Can I invest in real estate with IRA at?? they will say, I?ve never heard of that ?or,? No, you can not do that. ?What they really mean is that you can not do this at their company because they only offer stocks, mutual funds, bonds , or CD products.

Only a truly self-directed IRA custodian like Equity Trust Company (www.trustetc.com) will allow you to invest in all forms of real estate or any other investments not prohibited by the Internal Revenue Service.

Is This Legal?

It sure is. For more than 33 years and through the management of $ 2 billion in IRA assets, Equity Trust has assisted clients in increasing their financial wealth by investing in a variety of opportunities from real estate and private placements to stocks and bonds in self-directed IRAs and small business retirement plans.

IRS Publication 590 (dealing with IRAs) states what investments are prohibited;. these investments include artwork, stamps, rugs, antiques, and gems All other investments, including stocks, bonds, mutual funds, real estate, mortgages, and private placements, are perfectly acceptable as long as IRS rules governing retirement plans are followed (To view IRS Publication 590, please visit [http://www.trustetc.com/links/irspubs.html]).

Getting Started

? Is it hard to do? is a common question about investing in real estate with a self-directed IRA. It is really simple and is very similar to the way you currently invest in real estate. The following five steps demonstrate how easy it is trate to invest in real estate, or just about anything else, with a self-directed IRA.

1) Establish an account with a self-directed IRA custodian.
First, you must Establish an account with a self-directed IRA custodian and Equity Trust Company is your best option. For more information on why Equity Trust is the right choice for your self-directed IRA needs visit, http://www.trustetc.com.

Setting up of IRA account with Equity Trust usually takes only minutes to complete by filling out a simple application and sending (or faxing) it to our office.

2) fund your account.
Next you have to fund the account, and this is just as easy as opening a self-directed IRA account. There are two ways to fund your account.

? Contributions
You can contribute to your account through a check or wire transfer and contribution limits range from $ 4,000 -. $ 50,000 Depending On Which account you choose

? Transfer / Rollover

In most cases, if you have an existing retirement plan as seeking to IRA, 401k, or 403b these funds can be Transferred to a self-directed IRA Allowing you to make real estate IRA investments.

3) Investment Found:? You re set to go !
Now that you???ve Got your account established, funded and you???ve Identified a real estate investment, you are ready to make an investment.

Making a real estate investment with your IRA is straightforward if you remember a few simple rules. First, complete a Direction of Investment (DOI) DOI instructs the custodian Form. A where and how to remit funds from your IRA for your self-directed real estate purchase. information contained on the DOI includes the property address, cost, funding instructions (check / wire), etc. In addition to the DOI, the custodian will need accompanying investment documents to Ensure proper titling of the investment

4) Ensuring proper title.: You and your IRA are not the same.
One of the most common mistakes (and cause of delays) in real estate IRA investing is when the property is titled incorrectly. Frequently the IRA owner will incorrectly put their personal name on the title of the property.

Remember you and your IRA are two separate entities, and as such, the property needs to be titled in the name of your IRA and not you personally.

? The correct title for a real estate (or other asset) IRA investment is:

Equity Trust Company custodian FBO (for benefit of) YOUR NAME IRA

5) What happens after your IRA owns the property?
Now that your IRA has purchased the property you need to remember two things:

? Expenses: Any expenses associated with the property (maintenance, improvements, property taxes, condo association, general bills, etc.) must come from the IRA

.? Cash flow / profit: All net profits must return to the IRA, meaning all income (rent) and profits (selling of property) are deposited back into your IRA account tax-free

That is all?? there is to it, it ? ? s as simple as 1-2-3. Account in no time at all you can be investing in real estate and other alternative assets receiving tax-free or tax-deferred profits for the rest of your life.

Don? T delay in opening in. Every day that passes is one less day your investment can benefit from the Earth? S most powerful force (at least according to Einstein), compounding interest. id=?article-resource?> self-directed IRA investing, the plans and services available to you, and how to get started, please contact Equity Trust Company via http://www.trustetc.com or by phone at 1-877-693-8209 .

Sell Acuity To Get Hired | Business 2 Community

According to the thesaurus, acuity refers to keen awareness, perception, insight and alertness. Imagine demonstrating all of this on an initial interview. What do you believe the hiring manager will think of you as this is portrayed? That?s right, your personal brand will blossom making you the favored candidate!

The importance of interviews

You lead a dress rehearsal up until the time of your interview. Your interview is your one-man or one-woman show. Just as actors rehearse their parts prior to a movie or play, competent job candidates do the same. Not only will you want to focus on the high points of what you wish to say, you also get into the mindset of your audience or the hiring company.

Companies fear hiring employees who:
- Do not have a solid set of ethics
- Do not behave as a team player
- Do not deliver upon expectations

During your interview, take the lead role by seeking opportunities to address these unspoken obstacles. Speak to them well, and you will land in the lead candidate position to potentially hear HIRED!

Success through conversation

The key to being successful is through conversation developing the connection between you and the person or people interviewing you. This is accomplished by listening carefully for areas of commonality and speaking to the points listed above. As the person mentions an aspect of their company or personal life of which you have experience, when it is your turn to speak, explain through a 1-2 minute story how this is so. Your likeability factor will begin to grow.

As you become adept at telling these short stories relaying scenarios of past experiences, begin to incorporate ones that demonstrate you as the person with a strong set of ethics, you as the team player and how you always deliver beyond expectations. This will put to rest any fear or doubt management might have. This technique will encourage them to seriously consider you as their next employee.

The easiest way to demonstrate your standard of ethics if you do not have an appropriate story to share is to ask the person interviewing you to go into detail of what they are telling you so that you will have better understanding. Several benefits come from this type of request.

The benefits of your request

First, by volunteering that you don?t fully understand what is being said but want to learn demonstrates you will do your best to perform should they choose to hire you. You also demonstrate your integrity by admitting you need to hear more in order to understand what is being said in its entirety.

Secondly, people like to talk much more than they like to listen. You will be speaking to their ego when you ask them to explain their thoughts in full detail. You may learn a few insider tidbits that would otherwise not be revealed thereby giving you an advantage over the other candidates. It will also help you further qualify whether the position is right for you.

The third benefit is you will be seen not only as a team player but as a possible team leader by the way you lead the conversation through question and answer. Most people simply answer questions rather than take the lead on a give and take conversation.

These sales techniques will help you to get in the mindset of the hiring manager. With practice, interviews become a Smooth Sale!
