In SC, Huntsman says Obama needed in union fight (AP)

COLUMBIA, S.C. ? GOP presidential candidate Jon Huntsman has officially filed his paperwork to run in South Carolina's first-in-the-South primary.

Huntsman appeared with his wife and five of their seven children to file the documents and pay a $35,000 filing fee at state Republican Party headquarters in Columbia.

The former Utah governor announced his candidacy Tuesday in New Jersey, and came to South Carolina a day later to file to run in the primary, saying he will focus on New Hampshire and South Carolina because he thinks he can win in those early-voting states.

Huntsman said during an earlier stop Wednesday that President Barack Obama must intervene in a national labor dispute over a Boeing plant being built in South Carolina or risk driving businesses away.

Verizon's 'DataGate' plans leaked in excruciating detail

With each and every passing day, the rumors surrounding Verizon's new "usage plans" are getting tougher to ignore. It's only been two days since we initially heard Big Red was ready to ride its unlimited data plans into the sunset in favor of switching to a newer, more usage-friendly model, and the leaks continue to flood in. This go-round, very official-looking docs that offer up a whole slew of details are in the open air. Many of the details echo what we've heard before: the data plans are the same price, starting at $30 for 2GB and working up to increments of 5GB for $50 and 10GB for $80; mobile hotspot access is an additional $20 and you'll get hooked up with an extra pair of gigs; finally, going over these allotments will cost you $10 per GB.

As rumored yesterday, all customers grandfathered into the unlimited monthly data will be allowed to keep it, even when upgrading to new phones. Business discounts, currently applied to the limitless plans, would now only apply to primary lines that are willing to fork out $50 or more; however, the wording did not indicate whether or not those grandfathered in would still receive those same benefits. More leaked docs can be found after the break, so grab some lunch and find your favorite chair -- you'll need 'em.

California Unemployment Offices getting over $2 million grant from DOL

necktie BSN

(Best Syndication News) - The US Department of Labor (DOL) announced today the distribution of $48.7 million to help aid re-employment and unemployment insurance eligibility assessments in 37 states and the District of Columbia. California's Employment Development Department will receive $2,144,845.

The funding is aimed at speeding up the unemployed workers return into the workplace. They also want to conduct in-person assessments in One-Stop Career Centers to determine if the person is eligible for unemployment insurance compensation.

By keeping contact with the unemployed worker, the One-Stop Career Centers might better be able to offer tools that can help them become hired again.

Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis said in a statement that these grants are being given out to make sure that the unemployed have the help to get employed again by offering ?individualized tools.? Solis added that the eligibility reviews would also be used to make sure that honest unemployment payments are going out.

The eligibility review process will be conducted in-person. The unemployment government officials will supply information about the labor market in the area. They will also help develop an individualized re-employment plan for the unemployed person. If relevant, information for re-employment services, training will also be given to the unemployed person during the interview.
