Denver Immigration Attorneys, Colorado Green Card Lawyers

Denver, Colorado ?

Grzeca Law Group of Milwaukee provides legal services focusing on immigration law for the clients of Casa ALBA Melanie, the new Hispanic community resource center.

The company has an office in the center at 314 S. Madison St., Green Bay.

The most common legal issue is not having proper documentation, said Jerome Grzeca.

?It?s really hard to clean up their status,? he said. ?If they are here without status, it?s for one simple reason ? the U.S. doesn?t have visas for unskilled laborers. Because the system is so backwards, there is nothing they can do.?

Grzeca Law attorneys offer free consultations. If potential clients have the means, Grzeca Law will represent them. If they don?t, Grzeca will try to refer them to another group, such as Catholic Charities. If the situation merits, they?ll adjust fees relative to a client?s income.

?We take that into account with Sister Melanie (Maczka). She?s been very good at getting us involved,? Grzeca said.

The firm has two attorneys fluent in Spanish and an interpreter for those who aren?t.

Sister Melanie Maczka, co-director of the center, said she hopes having legal services available will build trust within the Hispanic community. Having that trust, they?ll be able to introduce people to the other services the center offers.

?We never ask immigration status unless to determine eligibility for programs,? Maczka said.

One of Grzeca?s goals is to steer people away from so-called ?notarios.? In Mexico, a notario public is a lawyer with special credentials. In the United States, they are often individuals with notary public credentials, or not, who pass themselves off as the Mexican version of notario. Grzeca said they basically practice law without a license and, worse, give bad advice. He said in immigration law there are some things, once started, that can?t be restarted if headed on the wrong course.

For example, a statewide waiver is a ruling that allows a person already in the country to obtain legal status, but at present they must return to Ciudad Juarez in Mexico to get it. The process can take more than a year to complete.??immigration.?criminal defense.
